VRML (or Virtual Reality Modeling Language and pronounced vermal) is the standard 3D world, scene and object building language for the web. For more information on VRML, please go to Web3D.org.

I have included here some of the samples that I have built for you to view. In order to view them, you will need the VRML plug-in and you can download it here.

I try to use open source software wherever possible. Here is a list and the link for some:

  • Truespace 3.2 (Yes! Its free) This is probably one the best and user-friendly 3D software.

  • White Dune (my favorite VRML editor) Freeware. This software uses OpenGL to preview the geometry. Scene graphs and routing is easily done.

  • My favorite VRML viewer from Bitmanagement. (Evaluation) Supports DirectX and if you have graphics hardware, the output is really good!

  • Gridinsoft Notepad Lite, which can handle VRML nodes. Freeware. Use this to do manual editing of the nodes and scripts.

  • CorelDraw 12.0 (commercial)
